Turgis and Gaillard Industrie group presented its SEFIAM 1602e, a new electric and optionally manned ammunition loader being marketing for export to users of the Dassault Rafale multirole fighter, at the ADS Show in Bordeaux.
The SEFIAM 1602e features an electric powertrain and the option of being remote-controlled. Two packs of lithium-ion batteries provide 36 kW of power, sufficient for 10 hours of autonomy and a top speed of 20 km/h. The system weighs 1,500 kg empty, can carry a weapon load of 1,500 kg, and tow a 5-tonne trailer.
The electric motor configuration enables the SEFIAM 1602e to be used in a confined environment and the use of a remote control enables the technician to stay close to an aircraft’s stores pylon when guiding the loader so the technician has good visibility of the connections, said Patrick Gaillard, general manager of Turgis and Gaillard.
