Netherlands explores Reaper co-operation with Italy

Dutch Secretary of State for Defence Barbara Visser visited the Italian airbase of Amendola on 29 October to explore possibilities for co-operation on the MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial system operated by Italy and being acquired by the Netherlands.

Visser said she discussed with Italian officials the possibility of co-operating on certification and integration of the Reaper into civilian airspace, as well as training. Italy wants to investigate the possibility of Dutch Reapers conducting training in Italian airspace, according to Visser.

She described Italy as "an ideal interlocutor [for] exchanging experience, both on best practices and lessons learned".
