The United States is preventing a shipment of weapons reaching government forces in the Central African Republic (CAR), according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 22 October.
The statement noted that Russia sent an initial instalment of weapons and ammunition to the CAR in January-February and 175 Russian instructors have trained more than 1,000 Central African troops with the approval of the UN Security Council’s 2127 Committee that monitors the arms embargo on the country.
“We plan to send an additional 60 Russian instructors and a second batch of military products to the CAR,” it said.
