NATO service member killed in possible ‘insider attack’

23 October 2018

A service member of the NATO-led ‘Resolute Support’ mission was killed and two others were wounded in an apparent ‘insider attack’ carried out on 22 October in Afghanistan’s western Herat Province.

“Initial reports indicate the attack was committed by a member of the Afghan security forces,” the ‘Resolute Support’ said in a statement without providing further details.

The incident took place just four days after the police and intelligence chiefs of Kandahar Province were killed in a shooting that took place shortly after a security conference had been held at the residence of the provincial governor.
