Australian shipbuilder ASC has revealed that it is getting ready to cut further jobs from its workforce as work on the Hobart-class Air Warfare Destroyers (AWDs) for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) is completed.
Australian media reported that the company had notified unions that 43 electricians, 11 mechanical fitters, and two pipe fitters will be made redundant as the company's workload is reduced following the planned entry into service of NUSHIP Brisbane in late October.
In August, the company revealed that 90 jobs were to be cut as work on NUSHIP Brisbane was completed, and progress on the third ship neared completion.
