A false alarm caused an Iron Dome air-defence system to unnecessarily launch an interceptor, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on 11 October.
The launch happened as sirens sounded in areas of southern Israel close to the Gaza Strip to warn residents of incoming projectiles. The IDF did not say what triggered the false alarm.
This was the second Iron Dome misfire reported by the IDF after one in March that involved multiple interceptors being launched.
