Thales has confirmed that a delay in receiving the necessary authorisations for its acquisition of digital security provider Gemalto will mean the deal will not be completed until the first quarter of 2019.
In August 2018, it issued a notice claiming that it had extended the acceptance period due to the delays, at which point the company hoped it would receive the necessary clearances by the end of 2018, but might push the deadline to 31 March 2019 as a “long-stop date”.
However, Thales now expects that the completion will be pushed to this date – a point at which the companies have claimed they will terminate the proceedings if the deal is not complete.
