IXI EW presented its IXI Dronekiller rifle at the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA’s) annual conference, held from 8–10 October in Washington, DC. The rifle is designed to disable unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and has a maximum range of 1,000 m.
An IXI EW spokesperson told Jane’s that the rifle cannot be sold to US agencies until it receives Federal Communications Commission (FCC) authorisation. However, the company has already sold the rifle to other customers, including 120 units to Japan, which will be delivered by January 2019 in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
