10 October 2018

BAE Systems Australia has submitted a bid to the Australian government to secure a deal to provide continuing support services for the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN’s) Canberra-class Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) ships and their LHD Landing Craft (LLC).

The company said on 11 October that in bidding for the programme, it has teamed with local companies Atlantic & Peninsula Australia, Saab Australia, and Navantia Australia.

Atlantic & Peninsula Australia has previously supported the RAN’s 16,190-tonne dock landing ship HMAS Choules , while Saab Australia has previously worked on the LHD combat system. Navantia is the Canberra-class designer and also constructed the hulls for the vessels.
