AFA 2018: Sikorsky enters final stages of Combat Rescue Helicopter development

19 September 2018

Sikorsky is entering the final stages of HH-60W Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) development and expects the first two engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) aircraft to soon start flight testing.

Tim Healy, company director of air force programmes, told Jane's on 19 September at the annual Air Force Association (AFA) conference that EMD-1 will depart within a few weeks for the company's West Palm Beach, Florida, test facility and the EMD-2 will follow a few weeks later. Sikorsky must first install fairings, the refuelling probe, and the aircraft floor, in addition to a few final checkout procedures, on EMD-1 at the company's Stratford, Connecticut, facility.
