Mercury Systems has introduced a new processing blade for advanced on-platform processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Each EnsembleSeries LDS3517 blade combines an Intel Xeon D server-class processor, a Xilinx UltraScale field-programmable gate array (FPGA), and a mezzanine site in a 3U OpenVPX formfactor.
"An XMC mezzanine site supports I/O [input/output] customisation, making the LDS3517 exceptionally versatile for a wide variety of high-bandwidth signal processing applications," Mercury Systems said in a statement. 3U designates the height of a rack unit.
The combination of those three elements in a single 3U package makes the LDS3517 a compact and powerful processing architecture, Shaun McQuaid, director of product management for the sensor and mission processing group at Mercury Systems, told Jane's .
