Qatari industrial capabilities grow as procurements increase

19 September 2018

As the deal between Qatar and the United Kingdom for Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft has come into force, the development of Qatar's defence industrial capabilities is continuing apace.

Following on from the raft of defence collaboration agreements signed at the DIMDEX trade show in Doha in March, information regarding the capabilities and partnerships of Qatar's new defence investment company, Barzan Holdings, have come to light.

Bazan Holdings was established to assist the Qatari Ministry of Defence in the management of requirements, procurements, testing and evaluation, and research and development, with the company also signing agreements at DIMDEX covering the production of small arms and ammunition, systems integration, and platform maintenance.
