Russia has pledged to deepen defence industrial ties with Vietnam with a view to expanding military supplies and technology transfers to the Southeast Asian country.
The Russian government affirmed its commitment to supporting the development of Vietnam’s defence industrial base during Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s state visit to Moscow, which concluded on 8 September.
“The Russian Federation affirms its determination to further strengthen and develop the relationship in [military technical co-operation] in the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership,” the two countries said in a joint statement.
The statement added that military technical co-operation “holds a special position in the overall relations between the two countries”.
