China’s Guizhou Aviation Industries Corporation (GAIC) has begun series-producing the locally developed FTC-2000G advanced jet trainer (AJT)/light attack aircraft to meet the demand from the international market, according to a 5 September report by the state-owned Xinhua news agency.
The platform, which appears to be the export variant of GAIC’s JL-9G two-seat supersonic turbojet-powered trainer, is being manufactured in the city of Anshun in China’s southern Guizhou Province, reported Xinhua, which added that the first production-series aircraft is expected to conduct its maiden flight by the end of September.
According to Xinhua, the multirole aircraft, which is marketed by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), can be fitted with up to seven hardpoints and has a maximum payload capability of 3,000 kg.
