The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is preparing to begin a new competition for the Royal Navy’s (RN’s) five-ship Type 31e general-purpose frigate programme just weeks after terminating the original acquisition process for lack of compliant bids.
A prior information notice (PIN) published by the MoD’s Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation on 14 August invited potential suppliers to register their interest in ‘early market engagement’ ahead of the start of what DE&S now terms the ‘New Procurement’.
