Latvia’s request to procure four Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk transport helicopters has been approved by the US State Department, it was announced on 3 August.
The deal is valued at USD200 million, and covers the helicopters, equipment including Talon Forward Looking Infrared Radar (FLIR) systems, spares, support, and sustainment.
“The sale of these UH-60 helicopters to Latvia will significantly increase [the country’s] capability to provide troop lift, border security, anti-terrorist, medical evacuation, search and rescue, re-supply/external lift, and combat support in all weather,” the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in its notification.
