BAE Systems will begin delivering a new touch screen digital display for the US Army’s UH-60A/L Black Hawk helicopters that will improve situational awareness for pilots. The new display will also introduce a moving map capability to the company’s ASN-128 Doppler GPS Navigation System.
The upgrades are designed to enable the army to operate its legacy helicopters for a few more decades, a BAE Systems official told Jane’s .
The aircraft’s present ASN-128 system includes an antenna, signal data converter, and a computer display unit (CDU). The current CDU – which has been upgraded from a one to four-line green display – requires the pilot to key-punch co-ordinates and data into the computer.
