The General Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR) wants to increase active personnel levels from the current 21,000 to 30,000 by 2026.

First Deputy of the ACR General Staff Lieutenant General Jiri Baloun informed media on 27 July that, in addition to reaching an optimal level of 25,000 active service personnel, the ACR wants to recruit an additional 5,000 personnel to fill planned technical branch specialties such as cyber warfare and robotics.

Lt Gen Baloun stated in 2015 the ACR was around 6,000 personnel short of its target of 25,000 active members.

“Today we are short of 3,800 active personnel, so in less than three years we managed to narrow the gap by recruiting 2,000 active personnel and we are moving forward according to plan,” Lt Gen Baloun informed media, referring to the first phase of the ACR recruitment plan to reach the optimum level of 25,000 active personnel by 2025.
