The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has begun receiving upgraded Shturm-S (9P149) self-propelled anti-tank guided missile (SPATGM) systems, an industry source has told Jane’s .
“So far, 22 upgraded Shturm-S combat vehicles have passed acceptance trials. The systems have been accepted by a military representative office and sent to Central Military District [CMD] units. Eight more vehicles have been overhauled. These upgraded Shturm-S SPATGMs are now conducting acceptance trials, with delivery to troops scheduled for 30 July,” the source said.
He added that a Western Military District independent artillery brigade had also received the upgraded Shturm-S SPATGM in early May.
