Raytheon took the opportunity at the Farnborough Airshow to outline its response to the US Air Force’s USAF Advanced Battle Management (ABMS) initiative: a multi-programme capability that will fuse global air and space ISR information to provide commanders with better situational awareness in combat.
Speaking to Jane’s at the show on 17 July, Rick Yuse, company vice president and president of Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, first outlined the challenge the ABMS concept is designed to address.
“If you think about the change in the threats, they now come from a variety of different areas,” Yuse explained. “There are now threats in space, under sea, airborne, land, and they’re evolving very, very rapidly.
