Aero Vodochody outlined at the Farnborough International Airshow that it will be targeting the US Air Force’s (USAF’s) Light Attack Experiment requirement with its newly launched F/A-259 Striker aircraft.
“We believe the F/A-259 represents the best solution for the US close air support requirement,” Aero Vodochody President and CEO Giuseppe Giordo said on 18 July. He added that the company was convinced that the turboprop solution is not the best one for the armed forces not only due to cost, but also due to transit time and safety.
The company has been able to de-risk its offering following the reactivation of its production line and supply chain, while also taking advantage of proven sub-systems delivered by partner Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
