UK government ministers have yet to make a decision on the procurement of a replacement for the Royal Air Force’s (RAF’s) Boeing E-3D Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) platforms despite media speculation that a multi-billion pound order would be announced at the Farnborough International Airshow.
A senior UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) source told Jane’s on 17 July that an announcement on the E-3D replacement could not be expected in the near future.
