Swedish defence company Saab and Dutch shipbuilder Damen have announced on 18 June that they have teamed up to offer an adapted version of the Sigma 10514 design for the Brazilian Navy’s Tamandaré-Class Corvette (CCT) acquisition.
The navy is seeking four general-purpose corvettes under CCT to replace the Barroso type that is currently in service, for which the Swedish-Dutch team is proposing an adaption of Damen’s Sigma 10514 fitted with Saab’s 9LV combat management system (CMS).
“Saab is looking forward to the cooperation with Damen and the local partners for the CCT programme. We believe our proposal meets the requirements of the Brazilian Navy and offers the added value of industrial cooperation and transfer of technology that are intrinsic to Saab’s way of doing business,” Marianna Silva, head of Saab Brasil, says.
