Raytheon, Kongsberg clinch US Navy Over-the-Horizon missile contract

15 June 2018

Raytheon Missile Systems, partnered with Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, is to supply the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) to meet the US Navy’s Over-The-Horizon Weapon System (OTH-WS) requirement.

The US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) on 31 May awarded Raytheon an initial USD14.8 million contract on 31 May for an initial shipset of encanistered missiles (tactical, telemetered, and inert operational), launchers, a single fire control suite, mission support equipment, training equipment and courses, and engineering services. The contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to USD847.6 million.

The award to Raytheon has been anticipated for some months given it was the sole bidder for the OTH-WS equipment.
