The Portuguese Navy commissioned its third Tejo-class coastal patrol ship, NRP Mondego (P592), on 12 June.
NRP Mondego is one of five former Danish Flyvefisken-class Stanflex 300 patrol vessels purchased by the Portuguese Navy in 2014 and 2015.
Before entering service with the Portuguese Navy, the patrol boats are being modernised by Portuguese state-owned shipyard Arsenal do Alfeite, with work including structural modifications and the fitting of navigation and communication systems and a protected mount armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun.
The first two vessels, NRP Tejo and NRP Douro , were commissioned in May 2016 and 2017 respectively.
