The Argentine Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on 7 June that the air force (Fuerza Aérea Argentina: FAA) will receive its first three domestically manufactured red IA-63 Pampa III aircraft in the last trimester of 2018.
The twin-seat Fábrica Argentina de Aviones SA (FAdeA) Pampa III is a training aircraft that can also be utilised for combat operations. Jane’s reported on 28 February that the contract for the three aircraft, which also includes support equipment and software, is worth USD30.3 million.
Apart from the Pampa aircraft, the Argentine MoD also noted that FAdeA is upgrading the FAA’s five Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules fleet and that one more unit will be ready in the coming weeks.
