The US Army is seeking a new anti-armour round as a replacement for its 155 mm M864A1 Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munition (DPICM).
Speaking at the IQPC Future Artillery 2018 conference, held in London from 14-16 May, Peter Burke, deputy project manager for combat ammunition systems within the US Army’s Program Executive Office for Ammunition, said the competition to find a DPICM replacement is about to get under way.
The analysis of the alternatives was completed on 31 January, said Burke, and production deliveries are planned to begin in the fiscal year 2023-24 (FY 2023-24) timeframe, although accelerated qualification and deliveries may be proposed.
