Armenia to create research and development body

14 May 2018

The Armenian cabinet announced on 11 May that it would be creating a new military-technical research institute under the country’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Deputy Minister of Defence David Pahchanyan said that the new institute would create a research centre to identify needs and priorities for the country’s industry as part of efforts to help plan the development of the country’s defence capabilities.

The new centre would work to bring together the country’s state-owned and private sectors to improve wider strategic planning for the country’s defence industry. In addition, the role of the new centre would involve working to position Armenia’s defence industry for equipment exports.
