Hellenic Army finalises OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter deal

09 May 2018

Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos on 3 May confirmed Hellenic Army Aviation plans to acquire 70 ex-US Army Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopters.

The helicopters will be transferred in the autumn of 2018 at a cost of USD44.1 million financed through Foreign Military Sales funding.

Of the total, 36 have a complete communications/navigation/weapons suite and are therefore fully operational. Another 24 have a basic communications/navigation suite and will be used for training by the Joint (Tri-Service) Helicopter Training School, to be set up soon. The remaining 10 will be used for spare parts.

Besides the helicopters, the deal includes maintenance trainers, spare parts, and technical training.
