Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has delivered a consignment of Spike Extended Range (ER) surface-to-surface missile systems to the Philippine Navy (PN) to be deployed from the service’s newest multi-purpose attack craft (MPAC).

Department of National Defense (DND) spokesperson Arsenio Andolong was quoted by the official Philippine News Agency (PNA) on 2 May as saying that the missiles, which have a maximum range of 4.3 n miles (8 km), arrived in the country in the third week of April together with their Typhoon MLS ER launchers.

The spokesperson said that the systems, which were procured under the Armed Forces' Horizon One modernisation programme, are now being fitted onto the PN’s three MPACs that were commissioned in May 2017.
