Russian Su-30SM crashes off Syria, two dead

A Russian Sukhoi Su-30SM ‘Flanker-H’ combat aircraft crashed into the sea off Syria on 3 May, killing both crew members.

The multirole fighter came down shortly after departing Khmeimim Airbase on the Mediterranean coast, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed. While the cause of the incident is being investigated, the MoD has stated that it was not caused by enemy action.
