Russian communications firm Joint Stock Company (JSC) NPO Angstrem showcased its new R-187-P1E Azart handheld combat radio at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2018 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.
The radio is a multimode voice and data dual band V/UHF radio operating in the 27-520 MHz frequency band with a frequency hopping speed of a claimed 20,000 hops per second.
A NPO Angstrem representative told Jane’s that the R-187-P1E Azart was first developed in 2014 for the Russian Army, and has been selected as part of the Ratnik soldier system. Fielding commenced in 2017.
