On 29 March Croatia officially selected the fighter offer from Israel and began contract negotiations. On offer were 12 used Israeli F-16 C/D Block 30 fighters, provided to Israel through the Peace Marble II programme and further upgraded locally to the Barak 2020 standard. Ten are to be single seaters and two twin seaters. A simulator, spares, pilot/technician training, and local installation upgrades are included, with the entire package valued at around HRK2.9 billion (USD480.3 million) that is payable in 10 annual instalments.
The bidding process started in 2015 with a request for information that was followed by a request for proposals from Croatia on 20 July 2017.
