Turkey announced that its defence companies were awarded contracts worth more than USD700 million by Qatar during the DIMDEX show held in Doha on 12-14 March, further deepening the ties between the two countries.
Turkey’s Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) announced the USD700 million figure on Twitter at the end of the show along with a list of companies involved.
The deals included Qatari military orders for six Bayraktar TB2 armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Baykar Makina, 50 Kirpi II mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, and 35 4x4 Amazon multipurpose armoured vehicles from BMC.
Nurol Makina signed a contract with the Qatari Special Forces Command to supply it with 214 NMS 4x4 armoured vehicles.
