The Sikorsky HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter that crashed in western Iraq on 15 March was on a routine mission from one base to another, according to a US Central Command (USCENTCOM) spokesman.
Major Josh Jacques told Jane’s on 16 March that all seven people on board died in the crash, which took place at 18:45 h GMT. Maj Jacques said the crash does not appear to be weather related. He declined to specify the aircraft’s origin and destination bases.
The crash does not appear to be the result of enemy activity and is under further investigation, USCENTCOM said in a statement.
