Poland examines plausibility of developing counter-UAV system

05 March 2018

The Polish Armament Inspectorate published a paper on 1 March that initiates a technical dialogue with potential suppliers of a system to detect and counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Given the programme codename Nida (after a river in southern Poland), the system is expected to itself use UAVs to counter hostile UAV platforms from the air.

The technical dialogue is expected to determine whether the predefined requirements of the system can be met; determine whether Polish contractors will be able to deliver such a system; define a timeframe needed to complete the project; and obtain information that could be used to define the final technical requirements for the project.
