The Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare Italiana: AMI) has received into service its 18th and final Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master advanced jet trainer aircraft, the company announced on 27 February.
The aircraft was accepted during a ceremony at Alenia’s Venegono production plant in northern Italy, six years after deliveries began in November 2011.
The type is designated the T-346A in AMI service, and is used by the 61st Air Wing at Galatina to train national pilots as well as those from Argentina, Austria, France, Greece, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, and the United States.
Further to the AMI, the M-346 has been ordered by the air forces of Israel, Poland, and Singapore.
