Brazilian Army to acquire bridging equipment from GDELS

The Brazilian Army is buying one Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB) floating bridge system from General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) as part of its Army Strategic Program.

A tender was issued in late 2017 through the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington, DC. The contract is now being finalised and delivery could occur within a year of signing, the army told Jane’s .

The system is to replace an EWK Faltschwimmbrücken (FSB) bridging system for the 5th Combat Engineer Armored Battalion at Porto União.

The package for Brazil includes bridge modules, three 8x8 bridge transport trucks, and one bridge erection boat.
