Norway seeks 12.7 mm M2 QCB heavy machine guns

15 February 2018

The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency seeks to buy up to 1,300 M2 heavy machine guns (HMGs), together with spare parts and tools, through a seven-year framework agreement published on 9 February.

An initial order of an estimated 1,100 HMGs will replace Norway’s current M2 QCB inventory.

The new HMG should have a quick-change barrel system and be fed by Nammo linked 12.7x99 mm ammunition. It will be mounted on existing Vinghog NM152 soft mounts and Kongsberg Protector Nordic and Sea Protector weapon stations.

Possible bidders include FN Herstal/FNH UK, US Ordnance, and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems.
