Singapore Airshow 2018: Australia supports boosted export drive in Asia Pacific

07 February 2018

Australian defence companies are in record number at the Singapore Airshow 2018, enthused by the country’s new defence export strategy, an official from the government’s Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) told Jane’s on 6 February.

Sam Peel, manager of exports and global markets at the CDIC, said nearly 40 Australian companies are presenting their capabilities to prospective customers at the airshow, more than have ever previously participated in the event. “There is a better recognition and awareness of the opportunities,” she said.

This improving awareness is largely attributed to the Australian government, said Peel, which has made defence exports a priority and has underpinned the emphasis with a new export strategy released in January 2018.
