Boeing Defense closes 2017 on a high note

01 February 2018

Boeing Defense, Space and Security delivered a solid performance during the fourth quarter, ending a sluggish 2017 on a high note.

The division's revenues increased by 5% during the period to USD5.5 billion, while its profits spiked by 13%.

Sales, however, fell by 7% for the year as a whole to USD21.1 billion.

Sales for Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security’s parent also fell during 2017.

However, in a conference call with analysts on 30 January, Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg focused on the positives, noting that the company delivered a record 763 commercial aircraft during the period.

Muilenburg attributed Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security division's strong year-end performance to increased deliveries of weapon systems.
