The Orаo JSC engine production and overhaul company in Republika Srpska (RS), one of the two constitutional and legal entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will soon become an authorised heavy maintenance facility for Klimov helicopter engines.
“Possession of capability to overhaul helicopter and MiG-29 engines would secure us with work for a prolonged period of time,” Orao’s director Milan Prica told Banja Luka's Nezavisne Novine newspaper on 15 January.
The licence agreement that Orao and Klimov would sign is worth EUR2.9 million (USD3.5 million) and will be partially covered by the RS government. The agreement would focus on TV3-117 turboshaft engines for Mi-8MT/17/171 helicopters.
