India's MoD clears import of precision-guided munitions, missiles

India’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) approved the procurement of 240 Russian-built precision-guided munitions (PGMs) and of 131 additional Israeli-built Barak-1 shipborne, point defence missiles on 2 January for a total of INR17.14 billion (USD270 million).

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, sanctioned the acquisition of the PGMs from Russia's military export agency, Rosoboronexport, for INR12.54 billion for the Indian Air Force’s (IAF’s) Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.
