The United States has agreed the sale to Nigeria of 12 Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC)–Embraer A-29 Super Tucano light-attack turboprops, it was reported on 27 December.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) received from the US ambassador to the country letters of offer and acceptance for the aircraft which will be used in the fight against the Boko Haram Islamist group.
According to the Reuters news agency which first reported the development, the final agreement will be signed and all of the payments made by 20 February 2018. It noted that the sale, which will include weapons, is valued at USD593 million.
