EU extends Russian sanctions by six months

The European Union (EU) voted on 21 December to extend Ukrainian-related sanctions against Russia by a further six months.

As a result, the sanctions against listed Russian banks, defence and security companies, and the oil and gas sector, will continue until 31 July 2018. The decision was a response to the continued failure of the full implementation of the 2015 Minsk agreement by Russia and Ukraine.
