The Kuwaiti government is to investigate the 2016 procurement of 30 Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal multi-role helicopters.
The Kuwait News Agency reported on 20 December that the procurement had been referred to the country’s National Anti-Corruption Commission (NAZHA) and State Audit Bureau (SAB) for evaluation at the request of the country’s prime minister, Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah.
Reports from both authorities are to be handed to the country’s cabinet upon completion.
An Airbus Helicopters spokesperson had no comment on the issue.
The Caracal procurement deal, reportedly valued at EUR1.07 billion (USD1.26 billion), is to see 24 helicopters delivered to the Kuwaiti Air Force and six to the Kuwait National Guard.
