The Netherlands will command the EU Battlegroup (EUBG) for the first half of 2018 and Belgium will be in charge for the second half of the year, the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on its website on 15 December.
Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands will form the core of the EUBG during the first half of 2018, with Austrian participation, and the battlegroup will have a German core for the second half of the year. During the first half of 2018, the Dutch contribution will include headquarters elements of the 13 Light Armoured Brigade and two infantry companies with combat and logistics support.
