PLAAF aircraft ‘infringe’ on South Korean ADIZ, says report

South Korea has accused five People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) aircraft of entering the Korean Air Defence Identification Zone (KADIZ) on 18 December, prompting the country’s military to scramble fighter aircraft in response, the Yonhap news agency reported that same day.

The Chinese aircraft were detected “infringing on the KADIZ” from the southwest of the disputed Socotra Rock (an underwater rock formation that is claimed by South Korea, China, and Japan) at around 1010 h local time and flying out of the zone at 1347 h local time, the media outlet quoted South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) as saying.
