Guatemala receives slew of US military vehicles

On 11 December the Guatemalan military received 108 vehicles donated by the US government, including 41 J8 4x4 Jeeps, 32 Polaris Ranger vehicles, 8 12-tonne cargo trucks, 12 9.5-tonne cargo trucks, and civilian vehicles, according to the Guatemalan Ministry of Defence.

Previously, the United States had donated 32 Jeep J8s to the Guatemalan military’s Xinca Task Force to combat transnational crimes, Jane’s reported in September. Additionally, in June US shipbuilder Metal Shark was selected to construct Near Coastal Patrol Vessels for US allies in the Caribbean, including Guatemala.
