Czechs procure new hand grenade

14 December 2017

The Czech Ministry of Defence awarded a CZK200 million (USD9 million) order to small arms maker Ceska Zbrojovka to supply hand grenades to the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR), the company announced on 13 December.

Ceska zbrojovka is the prime contractor, while the hand grenades will be manufactured by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition and explosive components will be supplied by Czech chemical maker Explosia Pardubice.

The new hand grenades will replace the ACR's legacy URG vz.86 Universal Hand Grenade and the F1 self-defence hand grenade in service since the 1980s.
